Here at West Seattle Nursery we understand that an appreciation for plants begins during a child’s early development and flourishes as they explore the garden using their bodies and minds. We have developed a touch-based plant-focused sensory matching game, where five Halloween decorated boxes with small curtains conceal plants within for the participants to touch and match with the numbered plants on display. An example of one of the textured plants is Black Mondo Grass, Ophiopogon planiscapus, which feels a bit like electrical tape—and looks like it too! All participants shall receive a prize (a piece of candy) after completing the 5 boxes…. Perhaps a gooey surprise lies within
