Building a Bouquet from Your Late Summer Garden

  • West Seattle Nursery & Garden Center 5275 California Avenue SW Seattle, WA 98136 United States (map)

My mom was & is a Master Gardener so I was always in the yard helping my mom, learning about how to properly steward the land, & learning all my mom’s tips & tricks for her pollinator gardens. We spent most weekends at botanical gardens, garden shows, master gardener classes, or at the local community garden. Needless to say, gardening runs deep. I took Floristry all four years of high school as my elective courses & had a couple different internships at local florist shops & event planning florists. I cannot even count how many corsages, boutonnieres, & table scape arrangements I made while interning.

Today’s class is all about making a late summer garden bouquet! I will be using late summer blooming florals. I will be giving you tips & tricks of do’s & don’ts to assist you along the way & a recipe for making homemade flower food. There are all kinds of fun arrangements that you can create once you know the basic fundamentals. So many people will treat themselves to a bouquet while they are at the grocery store, but today you can learn how to curate a bouquet from your own garden! I also have my favorite tools, books, & plants here with me so you can be set up for success to have everything you need. For more of my favorites, check the handout.
